Said to my lad way back, all this Spurs, Chelsea.Mancs stuff is nothing compared to Millwall - that is a level beyond anything today and however sanitised is is now, compared to my day, that fixture is a step back to the pond of creation

Ive watched us a couple of times at the Old Den but the thought of Millwall at Stratford. Carnage doesn't even come close to what that would be like.

The League Cup game in 2009 was one of my favourite nights; that in an age of saturated football overkill, brought us a real rivalry that matters, not the fucking fabricated 'rivals' Sky and BT throw up.
I know everyone hates Spurs, but you cannot compare the rivalry with them to Wall.

Noble, at least, and probably Rice, would have educated their team on the history and importance of such a match, even if all they knew before was, via the mass media, that Liverpool/Leeds, Liverpool/Everton or the two Manchester clubs, Arsenal/Tottenham were what local derbies were all about.
That which exists between us & the 'wall goes much deeper than that: it is borne from support of clubs of the community, by the community in which they were formed, due to the way those communities interacted way before the premiership - way before the internet, way before, even, television even existed.
Such a game would truly have offered the world a history lesson in community football, even if it couldn't be sanitized for Sunday lunchtime viewing.
Fate's a fucking bitch sometimes.

It was nothing to do with resting players. The players that played should have had far too much for Wimbledon even at their gaff. It was all about ATTITUDE

If we'd made it through to the quarters we'd have pretty much been third favourites (behind Man City and the winners of Chelsea/Man United).
Opportunity wasted.
But at least by resting key players they'll be fresh for the battle of finishing ninth instead of eleventh.
